A Mother-Son Masterclass: Nelly has been honing her tailoring and design skills since she was just nine years old. Her passion inspired her son, Carl Ivar, who decided to become a fashion designer at age ten. In 2015, they officially joined forces and now run the entire independent fashion house together as a family.

Born in 1992, Carl Ivar grew up in Nelly's studio atelier. He had his first vernissage at 12, graduated from business school in 2013 and took the leading role at Nelly Johansson in 2015.

The house's Artisanal perspective has recently expanded beyond textiles into furniture. Carl Ivar designs and carves functional art pieces, such as a monolithic bench carved entirely from Swedish spruce and the stool.
